Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library
By: Chris Grabenstein
In Chris Grabenstein’s Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library, twelve-year-old Kyle Keeley and eleven other students win a contest to spend the night in a remarkable new library designed by a famous game inventor. But when the doors remain locked the next morning, the students discover that their overnight adventure has turned into an elaborate competition. To escape, they must solve puzzles, uncover hidden clues, and navigate challenges throughout the high-tech library. As the competition unfolds, Kyle and his friends must rely on creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking in a fast-paced adventure filled with mysteries, unexpected twists, and clever problem-solving.
Students will explore Chris Grabenstein’s Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library as they help Kyle Keeley and his team solve puzzles to unlock a secret vault. Using the engineering design process, students will investigate microelectronics, electricity, and simple circuits while discovering how technology can reveal hidden clues. Students will design and build interactive library maps using copper tape, button batteries, and LED lights to illuminate hidden rooms and uncover combination numbers. They will test and troubleshoot their circuits before sharing their solutions and reflecting on how engineering and teamwork can help solve problems.
