Brandy has been an educator for 28 years, most of which have been spent at Loogootee Community Schools. During that time, she has taught science and math across a wide range of grade levels and disciplines. She also taught chemistry at Vincennes University's Jasper Campus for four years. Brandy earned a bachelor's degree in science and Math Teaching from the University of Southern Indiana and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University.
Two years ago, Brandy took on a new challenge by becoming the Fabrication Lab Lead Teacher for Loogootee Middle School and High School in their new fabrication lab, known as the Lion’s Den. In this role, she supports teachers in grades 5-12 as they design and implement projects that allow students to utilize the fabrication tools available in the Lion’s Den. Brandy has been involved with the SCALE K-12 initiative for two years and has enjoyed helping create two microelectronics-focused curriculum units, Lock it Up! and Dustbusters! Loogootee Community Schools is located in Martin County, Indiana, home to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, and WestGate Technology Park, both of which play an important role in the Loogootee community.
